Why MeshTrack
A locator that holds up when it matters.
Reg 16.7 requires an intrinsically-safe device to determine the last known location of every underground worker if they go missing. The hard part isn't tracking on a good day — it's keeping a location after something has gone wrong.
A system built on a cabled backbone severs in exactly the collapse, fire or flood the regulation was written for. MeshTrack runs on a self-healing Wirepas mesh instead: if a node drops or a section fragments, the mesh re-forms and the last anchor hop persists — so a location survives where a leaky-feeder or portal-RFID approach would go dark. That resilience, plus an intrinsically-safe cap-lamp tag option and audit-grade evidence, is why it was chosen here.

Underground, level by level
Each level, shaft station and separate structure gets its own anchor grid — radio doesn't pass through rock — extended over the self-healing mesh back to a shared gateway where the network reaches.
Open-cast, area by area
Across large open ground the design mixes precise mesh where zone-level location matters with lighter BLE proximity where 'which area' is enough — coverage sized to each part of the operation.
People where it matters most
Tags on underground workers give a last-known location if someone goes missing, with refuge-bay presence, muster roll-call on an alarm, and unauthorised-movement alerts in restricted areas.
Evidence for the regulator
Position history at the anchor and in the cloud, with signed, time-stamped exports ready for MHSI inspection — the audit trail Reg 16.7 calls for.
